Sarah's brother was John Proctor, who was executed for witchraft in 1692 and immortalized in the Arthur Miller play "The Crucible." She died after 1676, when her last child was born. She was still of child-bearing age, and her husband is known to have had a second wife.

sources for vital records: Sarah wasn't born in 1646, which can be widely found in internet databases. She was married in 1659. Her father's will mentions his four daughters, and if they are listed chronological by age, which is customary, she was born about 1639. Her marriage comes from Vital records of Salem, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849, Vol. III (Salem:1916), p. 301, but the month isn't given in Essex County court record from which it was taken.
