For an explanation for Joshua's parents being Abraham and Deborah (Shaw) Beal see Doug Sinclair, "Expanding the Family of Joshua Beal Sr. of Abington and Cummington, Massachusetts." Joshua's signature was found after this in the estate documents of Samuel Beal of Cummington in 1778, and the spelling he used, "Beall," is used at this page.
