William A. Hussey was master of Frances on the next trip after John Briggs retired. The 1836 directory lists three William Husseys as mariners (William H., William (capt. Tuscaloosa) and William A). <

Charles Bliss Hosmer prob. b. 8 Feb 1814, Springfield, MA, son of Luther and Abiah (Bliss), d. 5 Oct 1888 (IGI). Prob. in 1850 US census as Charles H., New Bedford (p. 292), 37, sailor, b. MA, w/ wife and 1 dau. In 1860 US census, Springfield (p. 143), 46, sea captain, w/ wife, 2 dau., 1 son. In 1870 US census, Springfield (p. 280B), 56, US Armory, w/ wife, 2 dau., 1 son. In 1880 US census, Springfield, MA (p. 248A), 66, works in US Armory, b. MA, w/ wife & 2 dau.

Levy C. Depety "Debety, Levi C., c [colored], in ship Frances, 2nd, boards 26 South Second." (Henry Crapo, The New Bedford Directory, etc., (New Bedford:1839) p. 67). In the same directory is a Lucas Debety, "colored," chimney sweep, house 180 Middle.
