James was born either on 12 September or 30 November 1758. The baptisms for these two James Dunnets show that their parents were Thomas and Isabel (Williamson) Dunnet and Thomas and Isabel (Miller) Dunnet, both in Canisbay parish. There is no way to distinguish between them.
     While his children were born between 1787 and 1804, their baptism records at Canisbay church say the family was living in either Canisbay or Gills. James had died by the time the 1841 census was taken. His widow Margaret was living at her son Thomas' croft in Gills, suggesting James died in either Canisbay or Gills.
