Keturah's family were probably living in Diss when she was born. Her parents were married three months before Keturah was baptized, both recorded in St. Mary's parish records . She was an only child. She married James Vyse in Palgrave in 1792, but it's likely both were living in Diss at the time. James was eventually, if not at that time, a tanner and currier in Diss and Keturah's mother was buried there in 1787. It was common for couples to marry in a town to which they had no connection. This was likely a way to avoid the three weeks of reading banns in a home church before the Anglican church allowed a marriage. Obtaining a marriage license was the alternative, and you could marry anywhere under the auspices of the Church of England. In this case, St. Peter's in Palgrave was only a mile from Diss. James and Keturah then had ten children baptized in Diss.
The family moved to Burston about 1812 James died by accident in 1839. Since his o in Burston, but when the 1841 census was taken she and her single daughter Eleanor were living on Mere Street in Diss. The Burston property was auctioned, so
