Nicholas was a churchwarden at South Petherton in 1600.1 William Patch of South Petherton was possibly his father, based on his burial record there in 1575 and the lack of other Patches in that parish. For the same reasoning and that Nicholas had sons with these names, Richard and Edmund Patch, of the same generation having children baptized in South Petherton, were likely his brothers. Christian died in childbirth with daughter Joan. The former was buried and the latter baptized on 7 December 1578. Nicholas's second wife was probably the Jane Patch buried in South Petherton on 12 May 1633 as the wife of Nicholas Patch, Sr. She was born about 1560 based on when she likely married and the birth date of her last child of record.
