Called Peggy in nearly every reference to her, she surely was named for her mother Margaret, whose mother was also Margaret. She was just 13 when her father died. Her mother was given the guardianship of her and her other underage siblings on 7 March 1797.(1) There isn't a cause given for her death at 44, or her husband's two years later.

vital records sources: Peggy's birth, marriage and death dates come from Vital Records of Beverly, Massachusetts, to the year 1849 (Topsfield:1906), 1:322, (1907) 2:300, 2:465, where she is "Peggy" except for the town death record, which calls her Margaret. A Dane Street Congregational Church record and her gravestone call her Peggy. There is a death notice in the Salem Gazette (issues of 24 and 28 August 1827) and the Essex Gazette (23 August 1827), both of which call her Peggy.
