bio in progress
William was the son of Edward and Christian Sprague. "Christian" (not Christiana) is only known from Edward's will. There is no credible evidence that her surname was Holland. He probably lived in Upwey near Fordington, Dorset, England, the former being the town where his father died, the latter being the town of origin of the Eames's. The family sailed from Weymouth, England, to Salem, Massachusetts Bay Colony, in 1628 on the ship Abigail. He was a selectman, a constable and a fenceviewer in Hingham, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and he owned land in Providence in what is now Rhode Island. Millicent became a member of the Charlestown church in 1635 and her son Anthony was baptized there in 1636, showing that the family lived there before they were in Hingham.
