John appears in the following Plymouth Colony General Court records, all associated with the town of Sandwich:

5 June 1671, surveyor of highways, Sandwich 5:5
5 June 1672, grand inquest 5:91
29 Oct 1673, case against Steven Skiffe and John Blacke alias Blackwell of the town of Sandwich for taking down fencesMisc Records, 185
6 March 1676/77, "John Blacke," on a jury involving men murdered by Indians 5:224
5 June 1678, constable, Sandwich5:258
3 June 1679, selectman, Sandwich 6:10
2 March 1679/80, John Smith, Sr. and Steven Skiff complained that, despite giving the town money through John as, constable, in 1678 with the proviso that the meetinghouse only be used for worship, John unlocked the church and held a town meeting there anyway. They asked for their money back and he refused. Found for Smith and Skiff.MR, 222 6 June 1682, selectman84
6 June 1683, selectman107

John is on a list, probably of men taking the Oath of Allegiance, not dated JA, 184. Surrounding lists that are dated infer this was before John, Jr., came of age. John or John, Jr., was on a series of what are likely freeman lists, arranged by town, probably taken much later. 205 They are preceeded by a list specifically of men taking the freeman's oath at court in June 1689. If these were accounts of freemen living in each town in the colony, it could be father or son. If these were all men taking the oath in June 1689, it had to have been John, Jr.

"Scusett," as mentioned above in reference to where John lived, must have been west of Scusset River, the east side of which was the Town Neck, which is now the Sagamore area of the town of Bourne.
