vital records sources: Samuel's birth and marriage are from The Vital Records of Scituate, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850, vols. I (births) & II (marriages & deaths) (New England Historical and Genealogical Society: Boston, 1909). Marriage (taken from the records of the Second Church of Scituate, which became the First Unitarian Church of Norwell), pages 186 and 153 respectively. The birth record says he was the "son of Samuell." His death was between the date of his will and his estate inventory, the earliest probate document found.
