Sarah's mark on her husband's heirs agreement in 1713. Deeds also show her signing this way.

Sarah was born in Charlestown and moved with her family to Concord, Massachusetts Bay Colony after she married in 1663. When her husband John died in 1713, he had already disposed of his real estate, which explains why no probate activity is found for him. He did have enough personal estate to warrant an agreement among his heirs about what to do with it and provide for Sarah in her widowhood.
Her son Ebenezer already had a formal agreement with his father to take care of his mother if she became a widow. On 21 October 1713, she and her children agreed on a two thirds division of John's personal estate and to share in paying off his debts. The other third would serve as Sarah's dower. She requested that whatever remained of her third be equally divided between the children or their heirs. Ebenezer agreed not to "embezel nor dispose of any part thereof, namely of his mother's thirds, but at his mother's death resign up what remaineth to be devided amongst them exept such things as are worn out: and as to our mother's waring cloths as tis her pleasure they syould be eqaly devided amonst her five daughters or their children." This document says John's real estate had already been disposed of to his sons. It was signed by Sarah (making her mark), Samuel Wheeler, Edward "Wheeller," Ebenezer "Wheller," William Woodbery (for wife Joanna Wheeler), John Meriam (for Wheeler), Timothy (Wheeler, signature indistinct), Samuel Prescott (for Wheeler), Jonas Prescott (for Wheeler) and John Meriam, Junr.

vital records sources: Her birth is in Vital Records of Charlestown, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850, vol. 1 (Madison, WS: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2011), 10, called the daughter of John and Joan, but such a John is otherwise unknown, making it certain that Edward and Joan was meant, and one of their children is listed just before Hannah.
